Fall Involvement Fair

TriSight Communications will be at the 2014 Fall Involvement Fair on Wednesday, Aug. 27 from 11-2pm.  The event will take place at Trousdale Parkway and Alumni Park. Internship 101: How to Maximize Your Internship

As a public relations intern, you may sometimes find yourself sitting in the office and feeling like you aren’t doing anything all that important for the day. Maybe you feel like you’re wasting your time and learning little from the internship? Then maybe it is time to figure out how to maximize your internship.

Throughout my summer internship at Illume Public Relations, an agency specializing in digital media and consumer tech, I have enjoyed the intense and fast-paced working experience with my team. Still, at times I did not have a specific task to do, and the last thing I wanted to do was kill my time by just sitting there scrolling through my Twitter and Instagram streams. Therefore, I came up with several approaches to keep myself busy and maximize the experience.

First and foremost, you can always ask your supervisor or co-workers to see if there is anything you can help with. Sometimes your supervisor assumes that you are working on something so they wont assign you another task, especially when you report to a team rather than a specific person. It’s highly likely that everyone might think someone else has given you work.

Adventures Abroad: Interning in Cape Town, South Africa

While we’re positive all TriSight members are doing great things over the summer, the e-board thought it would be great to hear from our members who are interning abroad this summer.  Although any internship is sure to bring a plethora of new experiences, our excitement for members who are taking their mission to find new learning opportunities abroad couldn’t be any stronger.  This week, Taryn Goscinski, a second-year SPR student, shares her experiences interning in Cape Town, South Africa.

Restoring the 1984 L.A. Olympic Rings

L.A. Olympic Rings

For 16 days in the summer of 1984, the world watched as the Olympic Rings blazed on prominent display as Los Angeles hosted the XXIII Olympiad. Two decades later, the highly esteemed symbol that had once graced the majestic walls of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum during the Olympic Games was found tarnishing in an abandoned storage area fully exposed to the elements of weather, time and neglect.
